Valve Unveils Steam Machine and Steam Frame
The “Steam Machine,” a new video game console that will be released soon, is announced by Valve. The well-known handheld Steam Deck was developed by the American gaming business Valve Corp., which is now releasing a PC game gaming gadget for the living room.
The business claims that the next Steam Machine console will be available in early 2026. There will be two types of the gadget, which is based on the SteamOS interface. Valve will also release a new controller under the Steam name in tandem with it.
According to reports, the Steam Machine has six times the power of the Steam Deck. Users will be able to play their current Steam titles on this new gadget, which will feature 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
With this cube-shaped (cubical) system, which is specifically made for playing PC games in the living room, Valve is delving deeper into the console battles.
Launched in 2026; price not yet known
The business announced on Wednesday that the new console will be released in early 2026, but it does not currently have a pricing. It will operate on SteamOS, a Linux variant that debuted with Steam Deck three years ago.
The valve said:
“We are incredibly pleased with the Steam Deck’s success. We were inspired to increase the options accessible for Steam users by the feedback we received from players.
A New Controller and Two Models
There will be two versions of the Steam Machine: 512GB and 2TB. It can be bought independently or in combination with a brand-new Steam controller.
This controller will be sold separately and come with two trackpads and magnetic thumbsticks.
A New Competitor in the Console Industry
It has been challenging for new players to enter the console industry for a long time.
Microsoft’s Xbox has progressively lost its former power over the last 10 years, while Nintendo’s Switch and Sony’s PlayStation have dominated sales.
But Valve already has a significant advantage thanks to its digital platform, Steam, which is used by more than 40 million active players every day worldwide.

Users will be able to access all of their Steam games on the new Steam Machine.
According to Valve, this new device will provide 4K/60fps gaming performance and be six times more powerful than Steam Deck.
Additionally, Valve Unveils “Steam Frame,” a New VR Headset
The Steam Frame, a new virtual reality (VR) headset that will be released alongside the Steam Machine and operate on SteamOS, was also revealed by Valve on Wednesday.
This isn’t Valve’s first foray into this market; in 2015, the business released living room PCs under the brand name Steam Machines in collaboration with other manufacturers. But those gadgets were pricey, confused consumers about the brand, and did not catch on.
Valve ended the project three years later.
The Steam Deck’s success is a result of Valve’s internal hardware development, which was prompted by that experience.
Although Valve has not yet disclosed precise Steam Deck sales numbers, the company stated in a 2023 interview with Bloomberg that it had sold “multiple millions” of copies and was already developing a new version of the gadget.
Steam Frame: The New VR Experience from Valve
Valve is now getting ready to introduce the Steam Frame, a new virtual reality gear that promises to revolutionize the VR experience.
After the initial thrill wears off, most VR headsets wind up collecting dust, but early impressions of Valve’s new product have persuaded many that it’s worth purchasing.
A smartphone-grade Arm chip powers the Steam Frame, a stand-alone virtual reality headset. It may use a microSD card or its own local storage to play Windows games.
However, its most remarkable feature is that it can use a high-bandwidth wireless dongle to stream games straight from your gaming PC without needing Wi-Fi.
Players may easily enjoy both flat-screen and VR games with its new controllers, which have an abundance of buttons and input possibilities.
Valve assurances:
“You can play every game in your entire Steam library on this lightweight VR headset—no cables needed—whether locally or via streaming.”
It appears like Valve is once more prepared to use creativity and audacious new concepts to transform gaming technology.
