Police confirmed on Monday that they had received a second report of a potential “shooter,” just minutes after they had reported that there was “no evidence” of an active attacker on the University of Virginia (UVa) campus.

At 3:17 p.m., police sent out a second message confirming their presence at Shannon Library and stating that keycard entry to academic buildings would only be permitted for security reasons.
Beyond the initial alarm issued at 3:05 p.m., University Police stated they had no further information to provide. Additionally, a university representative declined to comment.

The University has not released a “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” notice since February 27. This notification was last sent following an incident near Alumni Hall involving an active knife attacker.
