Without Cole Palmer and Liam Delap, Chelsea dominated possession but lacked inventiveness. The home audience was momentarily cheered up by the arrival of teenage Brazilian winger Estevão, but Talbi stole the show in the closing seconds.
It served as a sobering reminder to Chelsea that possession is not enough to win games and that their chances of winning the title are still, at best, slim.

Murphy, who is referred to as the “assist king” on Tyneside, frequently has trouble finishing, but this time he did it flawlessly.
Ironically, Newcastle paid £55 million to acquire Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in the summer to replace Murphy, but Murphy’s play has prevented the expensive acquisition from starting.
Newcastle did not, however, have it all to themselves. Nick Woltemade hit the post, Murphy wasted more opportunities, and Anthony Gordon harassed Fulham’s defense but failed to score.
Raúl Jiménez’s physical presence and Adama Traoré’s speed down the right helped Fulham gain ground on Newcastle’s defense as they developed their game.
Nick Pope, the goalie, was outstanding once more, reminding England’s selectors of his World Cup credentials with a deft stop that denied Sander Berge.
After halftime, Kevin, a replacement, blasted in a risky cross from the left to give Fulham the equalizer.
Sasa Lukic courageously jumped in front of Sven Botman to head the rebound beyond Pope after Jiménez’s shot struck the bar.
Fabian Schär had to step in for Botman when he suffered a head injury during the procedure. He was accompanied by Harvey Barnes and Sandro Tonali, who were both applauded, particularly Tonali, who had been benched because of illness.
Kevin, Fulham’s record-breaking £34.6 million acquisition, outplayed Kieran Trippier on numerous occasions and showed flair and desire to justify his high price tag. Newcastle found it difficult to control him.
Newcastle realized they had to take a chance as Fulham made a risky drive forward. In the 90th minute, Guimarães made apologies by shooting home from close range after Leno failed to handle an effort from substitute Will Osula. Guimarães should have buried a clear header.
The late strike not only secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory but also breathed much-needed life into Newcastle’s stuttering season — a reminder that grit and timing can sometimes matter more than dominance.
