Elon Musk Launches Grokipedia. Elon Musk Introduces a Right-Wing AI “Fact-Checked” Encyclopedia.
Important Points:
The entries on Grokipedia support conservative ideas.
According to several journalists, it contains false information.
Elon Musk has introduced Grokipedia, an online encyclopedia that he claims is more in line with his right-wing beliefs than Wikipedia and is founded on artificial intelligence (AI). Many of its entries, though, assert that they are based on Wikipedia.
Musk had been preparing this Wikipedia competitor for at least a month, describing it as “extremely important for civilization.” Grokipedia lacks human authors, in contrast to Wikipedia, which is authored and edited by volunteers. It asserts that Musk’s AI chatbot Grok fact-checks all content.
Musk claimed that David Sacks, the AI and cryptocurrency czar for the Trump administration, came up with the concept.
Musk has regularly criticized Wikipedia, especially for quoting NPR and The New York Times.

Additionally, he frequently attacks what he refers to as the “mainstream media,” urging people to use his social media site X (previously Twitter), which he has set up to magnify far-right and conservative voices, including his own.
It seems that Grokipedia’s entries take a conservative stance.
For instance, its story about the incident in the Capitol on January 6 minimizes Trump’s own part in fueling the riot and references “widespread claims of voting irregularities,” a claim made by Trump and his supporters to contest Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.
While mainstream accounts frequently exaggerate casualty figures and intent beyond forensic evidence, and downplay prior failures in election oversight and riot containment, the article also claims that the events of January 6 “have fueled enduring debates over its nature — ranging from a legitimate expression of grievances against perceived electoral flaws to a premeditated threat to democratic transfer of power.”
Grokipedia has already been accused by some journalists of disseminating false material, such as the assertion that pornography exacerbated the AIDS epidemic.
Musk commanded the administration’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) early in Trump’s second term, enacting severe budget and staffing cuts. He was the least popular public figure in the United States, according to a Gallup poll published in August, and his interim position terminated in April.
