Disney removes ABC, ESPN, and other channels from YouTube TV after talks collapse
YouTube TV viewers can no longer watch Disney channels like ABC and ESPN, as the two companies failed to reach an agreement on a new content distribution deal. Other channels disappearing from Google’s pay-TV platform include Disney Channel, FX, and Nat Geo.

In a blog post late Thursday, Google’s pay-TV platform said that Disney had followed through on its threat to suspend its content during negotiations. The dispute could affect coverage of some college football games on Saturday, as well as NBA, NFL, and NHL broadcasts.

YouTube is the largest internet TV provider in the United States, with more than 9 million subscribers. Hulu, which is owned by Disney, ranks second with roughly half as many users. In recent weeks, viewers had already become aware of the conflict, as warning messages began scrolling across their TV screens.

YouTube stated that Disney used the threat of a blackout as a negotiation tactic, which would have led to higher prices for subscribers. According to YouTube, Disney’s decision to pull its channels also benefits its own streaming platforms — Hulu + Live TV and Fubo.

“This is a frustrating and disappointing outcome for our YouTube TV subscribers,” the company said. “We continue to urge Disney to work with us constructively to reach a fair agreement that brings their networks back to YouTube TV.”

YouTube also announced that if Disney’s content remains “unavailable for an extended period,” subscribers would receive a $20 credit. The base YouTube TV plan currently costs $82.99 per month.

Disney, on the other hand, said that YouTube TV is refusing to pay fair rates for its channels and has chosen to “deny its subscribers the content they value most.” The company also noted that several Top 25 teams are set to play this weekend.

“With a $3 trillion market cap, Google is using its market dominance to eliminate competition and undermine the industry-standard terms we’ve successfully negotiated with every other distributor,” Disney said. The company added that it remains committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible.

Here are some Reviews from disscussions of few Users in thier own words.

Disney will wait for the bulk of their former Hulu subscribers (like me), to re-subscribe. Then, once their shareholders are satisfied, they will reach an agreement with Google. Ultimately, I will be right back where I was this time last year, cancelling my worthless Hulu/Disney+ subscription for the second time 😝.

I stand by YT for not letting Disney to force you into and agreement that would make the prices higher for the customers; If you have an antenna you can get regular channels and watch all the games like people used to do back in the day but with better reception. instead of blaming YT recognize that this is Disney using strong arm tactics.

How convenient that they pulled ABC and ESPN on the exact same day my payment for November was drafted from my bank. Now I’ve paid $94 and I can’t watch the shows I want. Make no mistake, I will be finding another provider for next month.

I went with YTTV because Fubo wanted almost $100 to keep it. Oh look, they’re owned by Disney! Cutting the cord has become more expensive than keeping it with all the services now and their ever soaring prices.

I hope everyone realizes this is a game by Disney to get people to switch to Hulu, which Disney owns and also to buy the failing glitchy and bug ridden ESPN app that was recently launched. I hate to say we should stand with any of these enormous companies, but we really should be on google’s side with this fight. I want to switch too but please explore other services outside of Disney’s reach. Don’t reward their games by giving them more money. Hulu has a plan that still has forced advertisements that’s almost as much as Youtube Tv’s base plan. Why is hulu just as expensive as youtube tv when a majority of what they offer they own? They are not paying rights to anybody for their own channels. Disney should not benefit from these games, I implore you to looks elsewhere.

And it’s going to work. I don’t care about any of these corporate squabbles. I just want to watch my shows. Yes, I will most definitely be switching to Hulu next month. I wish I could afford to do it right now, but I already paid YT $94. I miss the days when we could just turn on the tv and watch what we wanted to.

ABC is our most watched station, mornings, afternoons & Nighttimes, news, shows and weather. Please bring ABC back or I hate to say, we will be switching to Hulu. We have been loyal to YouTubeTV since day 1 of cutting the cord and streaming, however if our favorite programming and news has been eliminated, I see no point to remaining loyal!

Rich people never have enough money. You’ve already increased our price, now for a higher price, you take away channels that we watch daily. People are struggling these days and don’t need increases and shut downs. You people should be ashamed of yourselves and your actions. God is not pleased with the way you treat people, and for that, your increases will become decreases. We will cancel our subscriptions and that money you won’t be getting. Just DO THE RIGHT THING for a change, you might be surprised at your blessings🤷🏽‍♀️😡😡
